The Australian National University (ANU) is a world-class institution of higher learning that is committed to excellence in teaching and innovative research. The ANU scholarship for international students was set in place to give students from all around the world who have displayed exceptional academic abilities in their respective first degrees, a chance to obtain their Master of Philosophy degrees from ANU, one of Australia’s most esteemed universities.

The Scholarship award, amounting to about $34,000 per annum, is funded by individual academic colleges of the Australian National University, Canberra, they also determine the number of ANU tuition scholarships to be given out. The fund covers 100% of your tuition fees, travel, and removal allowance if you are coming from outside Canberra, a dependent allowance (for partner and child), and a thesis allowance.

Recipients of the scholarship award are expected to study full-time for a period of one and a half years to obtain their Master’s degree. In some cases, however, albeit under strict criteria, some international students are allowed to undertake part-time study.

How To Apply For The Australian National University MPhil Scholarship in 2023

There are no stated guidelines to apply for this scholarship program, all eligible candidates who have applied for admission on ANU admission portal will be considered for the scholarship award. All that is required is that applicants must be eligible for admission into the MPhil program at Australian National University.

However, Before candidates submit their applications at ANU, they are expected to have made contact with the Graduate Studies Convener relevant to their course of study, or a prospective supervisor. This is due to the need to discuss research subjects and associated topics. For international students to be considered for the scholarship in the main round of offers, it is required that their application for admission into ANU must be submitted by 31 August. ANU reserves the right to consider scholarship offerings at any time of the year.

Who Is Eligible For The Rhodes Scholarship For Global Students?

One of the advantages of applying to the Australian National University for your Master of Philosophy program is that the scholarship award is open to students from all demographics, regardless of race or nationality. Students who possess the following requirements are eligible for the ANU MPhil scholarship:

  • Language Requirements: due to the English language being the official language of Australia and the means of communication at Australian National University, applicants are required to be proficient in it. English Language proficiency tests are also needed.
  • Academic Requirements: Australian National University awards scholarships to the best international students who have shown proof of extraordinary academic endowment and leadership qualities.

Hopeful applicants must have completed one of these two; a Bachelor’s degree programme with first-class honors (some colleges however do consider candidates who graduated with an upper second-class honors (2:1) degree), a Master’s degree centered around research. Both should be from a recognized university.
