How To Apply For The NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship 2024

Candidates who are from the Niger Delta, and studied any of the courses listed above at undergraduate level can begin application for the next scholarship round in 2024 here.

If your application was successful, you will be automatically assigned a registration number. Deadline for scholarship application is November 3rd, 2023. After application, a selection process will take place and only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Required Documents For Application

When applying for this scholarship, candidates will be required to possess all of the following documents:

  1. Recently taken passport photographs
  2. Admission letter from a recognized university overseas, for Masters level study.
  3. NYSC discharge or exemption certificates, as the case may apply.
  4. Local Government Identification Letter.

Who Is Eligible For This Scholarship?

To be eligible for the NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship, a candidate must-

  • Be from the Niger Delta Region. While this is the core requirement, special preference is often accorded to students who are indigenes of an oil producing host/communities/local government areas.
  • Have obtained a First-Class, Second Class Upper, or Lower Division undergraduate degrees from a recognized institution, in that order.
  • Have studied any of the 14 professional courses listed in the earlier sections.

 

Selection Process For The NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship

The selection process for the NDDC foreign postgraduate scholarship is cut into 4 stages namely, the Initial application, preliminary shortlisting, Computer based testing, and the final verification.

  • Initial Application: this is the first step of application, interested candidates must first submit an application on the Commission’s scholarship webpage
  • Preliminary Shortlisting: for this stage, candidates will be shortlisted for the next round based on their O’Level results (WASSCE/NECO), Bachelor’s degree classification, and local government identification.
  • Computer-Based Testing: candidates who are shortlisted will be required to write a Computer based test conducted in Rivers State. To advance to the final stage, candidates must record a minimum score of 70% in this test.
  • Final Verification: the last stage of selection is accomplished through the Local Government Area (LGA) and Community Development Committee (CDC).
